There are so many tobacco smokers out there you have simply tries everything they can think of to get tobacco out of their life. They might have tried every nicotine replacement product that is sold over the counter and perhaps even some prescription varieties as well. It can very frustrating for a smoker to take those first steps towards quitting smoking and then be so disappointed when their willpower fails them or the products they tried simply did not work for them. It is no secret to any smoker that has tried to quit that determination and willpower plays a significant role in whether or not you are successful

Nicotine gum and patches can be effective for those smokers that can hang in there long enough to actually quit completely. The bad thing about trying to give up tobacco is that they will often cheat while they are quitting. They will decide that just one will not matter, then just smoking two will not make that much difference. They tell themselves that they are doing pretty good and having a cigarette or two will be alright. This is usually because a smoker that is still getting their nicotine in small amounts from their stop smoking aid still has the need to fulfill the other smoking habits that go along with nicotine addiction.

A smoker is accustomed to holding a cigarette many times a day. They are used to the smoking sensation and putting it in and out of their mouth off and on during the day. Nicotine gum and patches do not address these issues and these habits are often what the smoker has the hardest time getting over. The craving to have that cigarette as an after dinner treat or during a break at work is very compelling and a smoker will often give in and smoke a cigarette just so they can fulfill this weird longing that they can not seem to stop wanting to do.

The electric cigarette is a nicotine delivery device that a smoker can use. This product is not really designed to help someone stop smoking, but to help them stop using tobacco. Many studies have shown that the nicotine solution, while not entirely without risk, does seem to be a much safer smoking alternative than tobacco. It is never on fire, so there is no tar which makes it non-carcinogenic. There is little to no odor. It is a water based substance, so there is no secondhand smoke. There are far, far less chemical additives in the electric cigarette nicotine solution than there is in tobacco products. The main thing about this product is that a smoker can still engage in holding and puffing a cigarette without the tar and exposure to so many deadly chemicals. The device is also cheaper to use than buying tobacco products by about half.
