Eczema is a disease most seen as inflammation of the skin, although there are many types and forms of skin diseases that will fall under eczema. The symptoms of eczema also vary widely.

Skin problems like eczema can affect children to adults and the symptoms can be frustrating and difficult to deal with. The itching and other symptoms of eczema can indeed be difficult and sometimes the treatment can be slow and might not completely eliminate the problem.

To learn more about what the symptoms are if you have eczema, here are the common signs and symptoms of skin diseases, although you have to keep in mind that symptoms may vary from person to person.

Itching is the most common symptom in skin diseases and in most types, the symptom starts with severe itching. Most often, our instincts would lead us to scratch the itchy skin, which can also lead to more problems. Sometimes the itching can last up to a few hours or it can also persist longer. Most often, these rashes occur in the feet, hands, knees, the face and other parts of the body.

Inflammation can also start when you are developing skin problems. The affected area may appear reddish and will most often be dry or flaky. When the part is very dry, it could also lead to more itchiness. Swelling of the affected skin will also occur. Crusting and flaking are also common symptoms of eczema and may also lead to bleeding especially when you can't stop yourself from scratching it. This may be true to children affected by skin disease who seemed unable to control their scratching. When they do scratch the affected area, it may also lead to crusting and oozing, although it can also result to these symptoms even if the affected area is not scratched. In infants for example, eczema may be oozy and crusty.

The symptoms of eczema can appear anywhere in the body although most often, the affected parts may be the legs, the feet, the hands and the face. Sometimes the itchiness of the skin disease, especially if your condition has worsen, can also disrupt your sleep, and of course, your daily activities.

When the symptoms of eczema tend to worsen, especially when the skin becomes very irritated and it becomes painful, or if there is fever accompanied with your skin condition, it is always wise to seek help from your dermatologist or your doctor. Although it is not something that is life threatening, the symptoms of eczema can be annoying and embarrassing.

Although it is said that there is no cure for this skin disorders, there are, however, topical creams and antibiotics that may be prescribed by your doctor to ease the symptoms like the intense itching. Natural treatments are also available.

It would also help a lot to avoid the factors that trigger the development of these skin disorders to get yourself out from the hassles of the symptoms of eczema. As the old adage always reminds us, prevention is always better than cure.
