Eczema can be annoying, from intense itchiness to the oozing of skin lesions and sometimes bleeding, indeed, it can be annoying and embarrassing as well. Eczema also can affect babies to adults and individuals of all ages and the best way to be free from this situation is to know how to prevent eczema by avoiding its triggering factors.

The primary cause of eczema is not yet very clear, though the disease is said to appear when the immune system is not functioning well, which is a result of some irritants. Eczema however has many triggering factors that may result to appearance of the symptoms. With this, learning how to prevent eczema should be focused on avoiding the triggering factors especially if you have a family history of certain allergies. If your parents have them, chances are high that you will also get eczema so you should be careful to avoid triggering factors.

Here are some triggers that should be avoided to prevent skin diseases like eczema.

Foods. Certain foods can cause allergies and avoiding them is one way on how to prevent eczema, rashes, and other skin problems brought about by the allergic reactions. Cow's milk and other dairy products, eggs, nuts, citrus and other acidic fruits are known to trigger the appearance of this skin problems, thus you may want to avoid them if you are developing rashes. Seafood is also known to have allergic reactions to many.

However, it should be kept in mind that food that may trigger eczema may differ from individual to individual. With this, you can observe and take note of the particular foods that you are specifically allergic to, so it would be easier for you to avoid it.

Other irritants that should be avoided are detergents and bath soaps, bleach and chemicals that may dry the skin. Tobacco smoke can also be the culprit. When you are exposed to cold and dry weather, it can also trigger the appearance of skin problems. That is why in winter time, you should take extra care of your skin, especially if you are prone to developing eczema.

During winter, it is advisable to avoid using soaps when taking a bath, especially if there is no really very visible dirt on your skin. You can use mild soap if really needed and avoid using hot water. You can use lukewarm water to avoid having very dry skin and avoid the shedding off of natural oils present in your skin.

Other triggering factors that you should learn to avoid are stress as well as other allergens like grasses, pollens, fur of your pet dog or cats, feathers and even certain cosmetics. As every person differs in his reaction to these allergens, you should observe which of these is giving you that abnormal reaction.

Eczema develops when your immune system is not functioning properly, thus, the answer to how to prevent eczema lies mainly on strengthening your immune system. You can build your immune system by eating the right kinds of food as well as having the proper nutrition that your body needs. Adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet as well as having regular exercise are your first steps in your success on how to prevent eczema and building a healthy body.
