Are you trying to lose weight? How many diets have you tried in which you were told that you had to eat less food? It seems that many of the fad diets have you depriving yourself of calories. Well, I am here to tell you that you can and will lose weight if you eat more! Yes! You need to eat 5-6 times per day and will lose weight.

This seems impossible, doesn't it? Well, it is not. Of course, you can not simply eat whatever type of food that you wish-the cookie and ice-cream diet will not help you succeed. You need to eat a diet that is balanced and contains healthy, lean sources of protein, healthy fats and carbohydrates.

You are most likely still skeptical of this thought, as it does go against everything that you have been taught about eating.

Is your way of eating working?

Try mine!

By providing your body with smaller meals more frequently, you are able to get your metabolism working in high gear. Men need to eat 6 small meals and women need to eat 5 to reap these benefits.

By eating small meals throughout the day, your body's metabolism is working hard. This helps you burn more calories, and promotes weight loss. Your increased metabolism helps your body effectively process vitamins and minerals better, too.

Frequent meals also provide you with a constant energy level, which means that there are no lows and highs. You will not be left feeling lethargic and needing to take a nap after eating.

Because your body will be accustomed to eating every few hours, you will not feel the need to crave certain foods. The constant, steady supply of healthy nutrients will alleviate this need.

A very important benefit of eating frequently has to do with blood sugar and insulin production. Your body will be able to control your blood sugar level when it is provided with a predictable eating pattern. Your insulin level will be regulated, thus providing a steady output of amino acids into your cells. The insulin in your body transports your blood sugar and amino acids into your muscle cells, where they can be used for muscle recovery and growth. This gives us yet another benefit of eating 5-6 small meals! It promotes muscle growth.

Planning ahead is a must for this way of eating.

When you plan out your meals ahead of time, you will be more likely to stick to your plan and less likely to stop for fast food or grab an unhealthy snack. Arrange for time to plan, shop and prepare your meals. If you are grilling chicken for dinner, grill some extra to eat on a salad the next day. Chop up your vegetables for the week so that they are ready to grab when you need them. The more effort that you put into this new lifestyle, the more benefits that you will reap.

Make sure to combine this new eating habit with cardiovascular activities and strength training and you will see a new "you" in no time!
