If truth be told, there really are certain urges that we simply cannot control. Some of these are in out thoughts and some of these are in our actions, reactions and behaviors toward a number of things. At the top of the list of the urges that are somehow too hard to co0ntrol, albeit not impossible, is our addiction with certain foods.

A funny way to look at our preoccupation with food is that most of the foods that we love to consume are those that are bad for our health. Foods that are laden with fats, sweets, carbohydrates and the likes are those that are obviously part of the group. Some people try to fight off their addiction to food by going through strenuous dieting while others simply let their food addiction persist. Unfortunately, controlling the urge to eat by psych8ing the self is not part of the options that most people are going after in order to fight off food addiction and as a result, to look and feel goof because of successful weight loss.

Inevitably, controlling the urge to overeat is not easy but once we learn what triggers our satisfaction o overeat, the we just might have a clear shot into this thing. Here are a number of the factors that lead to overindulgence in food:

Fixations. There are certain things in life that we inevitably become fixated to. Some fixations are due to overindulgence and over enjoyment over such things when we are only little. Thus, the tendency is for us to look for those things again. Meanwhile, there are also fixations that become a huge part of ourselves simply because it lacked in our lives while we were in the growingup stage and now that we are adults, we have decided that we want to experience those things that we were deprived of.

Emotions. Emotions play a major role in overeating because scientifically, some foods are proven to uplift mood. One such food type is chocolate. When we eat chocolates, certain properties in these delectable sweets round up our hormones and produce the happy hormone in us, thus uplifting our mood. Hence, we often hear people say that they feel much better after eating chocolates. The only problem is, of course, the aftermath of eating too many chocolates can lead to weight gain and of course, high blood glucose.

Society. The social circle we are part of also affects the way we live our lives. Invariably, it also influences our eating habits, our food choices and therefore, our diet plans. Although this is a very common thing, we can adapt and adjust in such a way that we wouldn't be too affected to the extent that we already allow ourselves to go fat and horrendously overweight just because the peers that we are with love eating.

We can always say no. We can always discipline ourselves. In the end, everything leads back to our ability to control ourselves.
