Recent facts and figures about the prevalence of obesity in the American Society have caused most individuals to watch what they eat and to be more conscious of the lifestyle choices that hey used to opt for. But another reason to grow alarmed when the subject on obesity comes up is the reality that this epidemic does not only concern the adults; rather, it also concerns the children in the society.

Indeed, surveys and studies show that more and more children are growing obese. This phenomenon strikes whether the child is a girl or a boy; or whether he or she is from a rich or a poor family. This strikes us oddly at first but then we also began to realize that obesity indeed cuts amo9ng gender and age and social strata. It is simply the effect of the way of life led by the parents of the children. According to a study, the rate of obesity in young girls and boys increases steadily over the years since 1990's. The result also yielded that those children who were diagnosed as obese continue to become obese as they grow old. Seldom were the cases when an obese child successfully fights off this epidemic.

From what we know about obesity, we are aware that this condition is no9t a death sentence in it. Rather, it only provides us with the threat; the possibility of incurring much health-related disorders such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic disorders that are difficult to manage. On our end, we believe that being obese is not a permanent state; we simply have to be aware of the efforts we need to partake in so that we can avoid the numbers of obese children and also, to help aid those children who are already in the state of obesity.

What is obesity and how does it differ from simply being overweight? Actually, not all fat people are considered obese. Obesity strikes when an individual's body mass index or BMI exceeds to 30. As such, the person who is obese should already make dire efforts to correct his or her wrong lifestyle choices such as vices and wrong eating habits and of course, an inactive and sedentary lifestyle.

If truth be told, fighting off obesity is not impossible, but in order to combat this condition, we must first learn how to fight it not in its latter stage but in the present. Otherwise, it might be hard to get out of that condition. Indeed, studies show that being obese for a long time makes it harder for an obese person to lose weight. Our advice? Make the action now. Act and don't allow obesity to ruin your life, especially at such a young age.
