Heart disease is a dreaded disease that a lot of people are falling victims to. It has become very common due to the lifestyle of people.

The lifestyles people live these days are very stressful and this is one of the primary causes for heart diseases.

Coronary heart disease is a type of heart disease that occurs due to improper circulation of oxygen and the blood to heart and its neighboring tissues. CHD is a type of cardiovascular disease and it can lead to death.

The main cause for the disease is due to a condition called atherosclerosis. In this condition, plaques and fatty substance will build up on artery walls which eventually lead to the narrowing of the vessels. A person suffering from CHD is at a great risk of frequent attacks that may even lead to the death of the individual.

The conditions include; age, diabetes, obesity, smoking, blood pressure level, menopause for women, bad cholesterol levels, lack of exercising and physical activities, level of C-reactive protein, homocystine and also fibrinogen.

These factors will determine the effect of CHD. People over the age of 40 are more at risk of suffering from a CHD. People under 40 years can also suffer from CHD but will be at a lower frequency. Smoking can enhance the risk of CHD and also lead to other complications.

Accumulation of cholesterol in the arteries is one of the main reasons for heart attack. This places obese people at a high risk of suffering from a heart attack. The above mentioned factors are determining factors of a CHD and so people should take necessary actions to avoid them as much as possible.

Symptoms of CHD

The most common symptoms of coronary heart disease include angina or chest pain. A person having frequent chest pain may be suffering from CHD. If suffering from angina, a person should consult a doctor as soon as possible. Heart attack is the beginning of coronary heart disease.

A person who might have suffered from a stroke or an attack should take necessary actions like medication to avoid CHD. A person who finds it hard to breathe will at a great risk and may potentially suffer from CHD. It is very important to lookout for the signs as you will have a chance to fight CHD.

Diagnosis of CHD

There are a lot of methods by which you can diagnose CHD. It can be achieved through a variety of means like; coronary angiography, ECG, coronary arteriography, stress test, nuclear scan, echocardiogram, EBCT or electron beam CT, and also magnetic resonance angiography.

These tests can be done to check in case you diagnose a potential symptom of CHD. The most common treatment for CHD is Angioplasty using stenting and also bypass surgery on coronary artery.
