Trying to decide if you should have liposuction and if so, what method would suit you best? You are smart to be researching before taking the leap into surgery. Liposuction, while considered a fun surgery, is still surgery and all aspects should be considered before handing your body over to a surgeron.

The decision to have liposuction performed should come at a time when all other methods of fat reduction have failed. Ask yourself if you really did everything you could to reduce fat yourself. If you have stubborn areas that just won't respond to your healthy diet and exercise plan then liposuction could work for you. Technology has made advances in liposuction with the use of the laser.

Laser liposuction can work for those who are in good shape but just cannot lose those last inches. Consider your body type, your health condition and how much body fat you have. The ideal candidate for laser liposuction is someone who has less than 100 pounds of body fat to lose and typically wants to lose only about 10 to 15 pounds of fat in one area. They are in good general health, they eat healthy and exercise at least three time a week raising their heart level for at least 30 minutes per work out. These are people who have tried and tried to lose those last inches in their problematic areas and simply cannot get it to budge. Traditional Liposuction is overkill for these people and too drastic.

But for some people, laser liposuction is not always the smart choice or is not actually possible to achieve the results they are looking for. Someone who is over 60 years old or someone who has more than 100 pounds to lose is not a great candidate. If their health is not that great or they are someone who doesn't diet and who doesn't exercise, no matter what age they are laser liposuction may not be for them. When someone is looking to have more than 100 pounds suctioned out of their body, the excess skin left behind is going to pose problem number two and more surgery will be required. Same is true of people over 60 years of age, the skin has less elasticity and once the fat is removed, the skin will sag requiring more surgery. A better option is some type of "tuck", where fat and skin are removed at the same time versus two surgeries, one to suction out fat and one to remove the excess skin.

Always be informed as to what is best for you and you alone. Research laser liposuction and other alternative for fat reduction. While laser liposuction is gaining popularity with the general public, it may or may not be the right choice for you. Make the smart choice by being informed.
