Once that has taken effect, a tiny cannula is inserted equipped with a laser. The fat is melted to a liquid and suctioned out. There is not much pain post surgery. Unlike traditional lipo where the surgeon uses a larger tool in a large incision and moves it around to dislodge solid fat, this surgery is far more gentle. The incision points are so tiny that they do not require sutures, resulting in little to no scarring.
Post surgery, patients have little bruising, swelling or scarring. Complications are rare with this type of surgery, especially without the use of general anesthesia which is known for causing the most post op problems. Patients undergoing this procedure can have it done on a Friday and go back to work on Monday. It is suggest to abstain from heavy activity for at least 48 hours and a compression garment is required to be worn for three days. After that it is generally smooth sailing.
