Pregnancy is a beautiful thing, it produces life. When you first find out you are pregnant you are so excited, maybe a little sick to your stomach, but excited nonetheless. Later in your pregnancy some might even say you are glowing. Anticipation of the big day grows, as does your belly. As you look down you wonder how you will ever get your figure back. After the baby comes you are so exhausted with overnight feedings and diaper changes, working out is the last thing on your mind. But somewhere when the baby is three months old, you start to feel yourself and want to get into a fitness regime. You diet, go running with your running stroller and the pounds come off. But for some reason your body just doesn't look the same. Your change in hormones have left you with fat that you never had before that just won't go away, no matter what you do.
That's when some women might get desperate to lose the fat and turn to surgery. If you are thinking of fat reduction surgery, be sure to do some research and make sure you are a good candidate for it. There are many different ways to reduce fat and technology has made advances in making surgery more safe. Laser surgery doesn't require the patient to go under general anesthesia.
A patient can reduce fat with laser liposuction in a doctor's office in about an hour. With this type of procedure, the incision points are tiny because the cannula used is about the size of a hollowed out needle with a laser attached. Once inserted beneath the skin, the laser heats up the fat and melts it into a liquid form for the cannula to suction it out. The surgery is done with a local anesthetic injected into the area to be treated. There is virtually no blood as the lidocaine in the numbing agent restricts blood vessels. The movement of the cannula in the body is gentle and does not cover a large area resulting in little to no bruising after surgery. And the scars are virtually invisible within two weeks.
For new mothers, the short down time is laser assisted surgery is big deal. The recovery time is generally two days of light to moderate activity and then back to your normal routine. Patients usually leave the doctor's office within three hours of surgery, walking on their own. There is very little to no pain associated with this type of surgery, and if there is, then over the counter pain remedies work well. A compression garment is worn for at least three days including nights and for some body parts, 8 hours per day after that for two weeks.
