Need some time to relax, de-stress and help rejuvenate your body and help keep it looking good? Then, spending some time at the day spa may be just what you need.

There are many services offered at a day spa to help rejuvenate your skin. These treatments help to decrease wrinkles, increase elasticity, and help revitalize your skins natural beauty.

When you decide to go to a day spa you will first need a consultation. In your consultation the professional will talk with you about your personal needs and wants.

From that you both can determine the best treatments and procedures to benefit you the most. Then, simply schedule times or appointments for the day to receive the care you want.

There are several different procedures available in day spa's including massage, skin care, bronzing, waxing, body therapy, salon and nail treatments, acupressure, eyelash extensions, and other procedures. There are many treatments that just focus on rejuvenating and maintaining beautiful skin.

One of the most popular skin treatments is a facial. Facials are the second most popular service in a day spa, right after massage.

A facial is a deep cleansing and exfoliation of the skin. This treatment should leave the skin soft, clean, hydrated, free of blackheads, and any other impurities.

Facial Masks are applied to clean and smooth the face. They involve placing some blend of material on the face and allowing it to completely dry.

This tightens and shrinks the pores all over the face. Masks can be made of algae, seaweed, mud, or any number of concoctions.

After the mask is washed off or removed, the skin should feel tighter and smoother. Depending on the skin type and mask chosen the facial mask will produce different results.

Body Scrub is an exfoliating treatment, designed to remove dead skin and other impurities. There are many various types of body scrubs.

Body scrubs use various oils, vitamins, and salts giving them different scents and healing properties. A body mask is exactly like a facial mask, except it is used on the entire body.

Body masks are usually used for exfoliation. They can be made from different ingredients. They also help to soften, smooth, and hydrate.

Body wraps are intended to achieve different goals. There are two different types of body wraps.

Some are intended to detox the body, while, others promote quick weight loss. Either way, the procedure is basically the same.

The entire body is covered in a liquid, cream, or mud and then tightly wrapped to hold in warmth. Any weight loss that occurs will be short lived, because almost all of will be water weight.

Still, if you have money to spend on a body wrap or a special occasion with a dreamy outfit a body wrap might help your wish to come true.

Day Spas are very relaxing and help to rejuvenate and revitalize skin. Medical spas can do the same thing, but they can rejuvenate in a more powerful way.

Medical spas employ on-site doctors. Because of this they are able to offer much more intensive procedures and treatments. Because they are more intense and harsh some of the procedures are painful and require recovery.

Before having any of these intense procedures, make sure that your chosen facility is licensed and fully qualified to offer the service before moving forward. In addition, ensure that the person performing the procedure is fully qualified.

Some of the medical spa skin procedures include dermabrasion, chemical peels, botox, and photo rejuvenation. In dermabrasion, the surface of the skin is sanded away to reveal new smoother skin underneath.

This procedure requires general anesthesia and recovery time can last up to several months. A chemical peel uses a chemical-based solution to burn away the top layers of skin resulting in youthful, new skin.

Chemical peels can have different strengths including light, medium, or deep. This is chosen depending on the physician's credentials, the chemicals used, and the treatment selected for the individual.

Deep chemical peels are very painful, require anesthesia, and include a lengthy recovery time.

Botox is an injectible form of the bacteria, clostridium botulinum. When injected into the face, it temporarily makes the muscles unable to contract, thus smoothing wrinkles in the face.

Photo rejuvenation is the practice of using lasers to smooth away wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, and other skin conditions. It involves the use of intense pulsed light.

Photo rejuvenation works by inducing controlled wounds on the skins surface, prompting the skin to heal itself by creating new cells. By knowing and understanding the results and potential risks of spa treatments and procedures you can make the best choices for your skin and body.
