If you are seeking a "magic" pill for anti-aging you will find it in the form of proper exercise. Engaging in routine strength building has been proven to slow down the aging process and provides many health benefits such as reduced high blood pressure and cholesterol, lower stress level, stable insulin levels and reduced risk of osteoporosis. Proper exercise is also vital to burn body fat, maintain vital hormones and oxygen absorption, and increases self confidence and self esteem.

Exercising is not an easy task it requires extensive work and dedication. Our ancestors performed physical work and were in constant motion on a daily basis. In today's society we no longer perform this type of physical labor instead it has been replaced by technology and industrialization. Although progress in general is good, it has not had a good affect on our bodies. Our bodies were made to remain physically active in order to stay healthy and fit. To eliminate or reduce the premature aging processes we need to perform physical activities to stimulate the cells in our body to repair, rebuild and renew.

The best way to put the physical activities back into our lifestyles is through strength training exercise. This can reverse muscle and bone lose caused by our sedimentary lives and condition our bodies to function better and become more fit. When your body is exposed to strength training exercise it is stimulated to produce human growth hormones. These hormones can slow the aging process and keep you young and active.

Engaging in muscle building and toning exercises your bones, muscles and entire body will begin to rebuild and renew. This activity will remove the degenerated tissue and cells of your body and replace them with new tissue that is younger, stronger and healthier.

Increasing our hormone levels and increasing our muscle mass that diminished through our aging can not only provide you with a healthier younger looking and feeling body, but muscle tissue damage will begin to reverse to recapture some of what we have in our twenty's.

Between the ages of twenty and eighty it has been determined that 35% to 50% of our muscle mass can vanish without proper exercise. The muscles in your upper thighs begin to deteriorate around the age of thirty and continue throughout the rest of your life. This decrease in muscle mass will be noticeable in a mirror because your leg will look thinner. Loss of muscle affects your body and overall health. This reduces the fat burning potential, creates fatigue issues, weakens your immune system, makes you more susceptible to injuries, and can increase the risk of disease and illnesses of all types.

Exercise in important as an anti-aging element but not all types of activities are intense enough for your body to create 'youth' hormones. Low intensity exercise like walking or '20 minutes on the bike' can increase your heart rate but will not release those special 'fitness' hormones that create metabolic efficiency, reduce the signs of aging, and help your body lose fat.

To release these hormones you need to engage in a routine strength training program. Short sustained anaerobic exercises, like weight training or interval training, create an oxygen deficiency in your muscles which change your body from a carbohydrates burning machine to a fat burning machine.

Weight training exercise is known to increase your metabolism and keep it elevated for days after completing your exercise program. Of course this depends on the intensity level, but essentially your body will continue burning fat after you have finished exercising. So when your muscles contract and then relax through multiple sets of strength training, your body is stimulated to produce significant amounts of growth hormones that will repair and renew your tissues and keep you younger longer.

Other benefits from this type of exercise include increased resistance to disease and illness by boosting your immune system, increased bone density and muscle mass, improved cognitive abilities, toned and shapely physique, and increased energy levels. So you get plenty of 'bang for your buck', right?
