Although eye pillows have in the past stereotypically been associated with the rich and famous, everyday people like you and me use them for a variety of reasons. Many of us are concerned about tired looking, baggy, and saggy eyes and use the little cushions to brighten and tighten things up a bit. Others use them as a relaxing finish to a stressful workout, or as sleep inducing tools right before bed time. No matter what you use them for, the benefits of eye pillows are anything but a joke.

There are tons of different stuffings and fillings for these little cushions, from buckwheat hulls to cotton to water, ice, essential oils and herbs, and others. Each filling has a specific use, and the benefits are different for each as well. For example, warm water can relax the muscles in the area, while ice can reduce swelling. Lavender is said to enhance relaxation and calmness, and buckwheat hulls are versatile and soothing on the skin. Using eye pillows along with yoga routines is much the craze today, especially when they are used in conjunction with other props such as mats, rugs, blankets, and more.

The eye pillows that are used most often are silk ones, mainly because of their sensual, soft, and smooth feel. The muscles in the face that are tense and stressed seem to relax just with the application of the silk. Add to that the various stuffings and fillings that are available and youve got the perfect recipe for comfort. Many people claim that they see a huge difference after loyal use with their little eye pillows, both in the way they look and the way that the area feels as well. Many people recommend that in addition to using the eye pillows, users need to sit or lie in a relaxing environment for complete stress reduction to fully take effect.

In addition to silk, there are many other varieties that are made of rayon, cotton, plastics, satin, and others. No matter what kind of filling is used, they are all easy to use and small enough to take just about anywhere during travels that are near or far away. Many people have likened them to having acupressure points pressed for relief, which also helps in a good meditation session. Soothing tired muscles, tendons, and ligaments is just part of the process of relaxation with eye pillows that people really enjoy and find a necessity as well.
