A partial abdominoplasty otherwise called a mini tummy tuck is routinely performed on women and men who only need to get rid of a little loose skin, say maybe to eliminate stretch marks in the lower stomach region.
These people do not necessarily need to have their stomach tightened, which is part of a larger and longer tuck procedure. Women do sometimes opt to have liposuction done along with the mini operation to remove small but excess amounts of fat tissue buildup.
The routine incision for a full procedure is a hip to hip incision along the lower pubic area, in the area always or usually hidden by a bikini bottom. The doctor will then loosen the skin from the abdominal wall, tighten the muscle wall and repair or remove the loose skin. Any stretch marks in that area will be gone with the removed skin.
However, while minimal, there will be a scar following the procedure.Another thing that happens is
the repositioning of the belly button. When the skin I readjusted the belly button moves unless the doctor detaches it and then reattaches it before suturing the incisions. He may also at this point decide to tighten the buttocks and thighs. After installing drains to handle any excess body fluid buildup the procedure is ended and the recovery process begins.
A mini procedure is less invasive, with the incision only spanning the pubic area. The incision is located in the same area where doctors perform C-sections. Liposuction may also be used to clear out extra fat tissue that has built up.
However, doctors will not use lipo on the areas of the stomach where the skin has been stretched. This procedure could hinder blood circulation and result in more scarring and even the serious complication of skin necrosis.
A good candidate for a mini tummy tuck procedure is a man or women in relatively good physical health and is not a smoker. People who have experienced recent changes in weight are asked to weight until their weight stabilizes. People with preexisting conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes need to insure that their disease is under control before seeking out a full or partial tummy tuck.
Prior to having surgery, it is recommended that patients talk out all aspects of the surgery with their doctors and a close friend or family member before making up their minds to proceed with the operation.
