For many women, their hair is like a crown that they wear everyday. Well maintained hair takes a lot of work, time and the right products. There are different hair products categorized according to the hair type. Using the right hair products will ensure you look your best while keeping your hair healthy.

Relaxed hair
This is curly or natural hair that has been straightened using chemicals. The chemical transforms the basic chemical makeup of the hair strands to keep them straight. The products used on this hair type are used to get rid of frizz while keeping the hair shinny when using flat irons and hair dryers. The products are important since heat can damage the hair and cause the hair to dry out.

Shampoo should be used every week when washing you hair. Ensure the shampoo is designed for dry hair. Straightening conditioner helps to keep the hair healthy and prevent it from looking dull leaving it shiny and silky. The only oils that can be used on the hair are jojoba, coconut, almond and olive. Use water based moisturisers; avoid those with petrolatum and mineral oil.

Curly Hair
This type of hair tends to be more fragile compared to the rest. Products used should minimize breakage. A curl keeper can be used to avoid dryness and control the curls. Curl control can be applied on the hair to intensify and define the curls while moisturising the hair and scalp.

Hot oil treatment products are used to reduce breakage, repair damaged hair and keep it shiny. A styling creame can be used to give body to the hair and moisturising giving it a great shine.

Ethnic Hair
This is the curliest hair of all and tends to be dry therefore the products used should stop breakage, stop hair loss and leave the hair looking strong, healthy and beautiful.

A hydrating shampoo is essential to enhance the natural oils in the hair and leave it shinny. Scalp oil is good to prevent dryness while a styling lotion ensures that the hair is protected during heat treatments like blow-drying and hot iron.

Colour Treated Hair
Invest in a shampoo that will coat the hair strand to prevent them from stripping while protecting the hair from UV rays and pollutants. A conditioner that helps maintain the colour can be used and should also have light-reflecting qualities A thermal protectant spray is necessary for use with blow dryer, curling irons and hot styling tools. Whatever be your hair type, ensure that you use the right products.
