Surgeons take extra care to make sure these patients do not leave the hospital without detailed instructions on how to deal with any complications that may arise. Usually these situations can be handled over the phone or with a prescription called in to your pharmacist. Sometimes, however, it may require a return trip to the hospital for corrective action. The key to success is being honest with your doctor before surgery and after surgery, being sure to follow post operative instructions and reporting any abnormalities to your doctor following surgery.
