Injuries. We have all had them throughout our life whether it be from falling off our bike as a kid and scraping up our knees or slipping on a wet floor in the grocery store where some kid dropped his sippy cup. While these were fairly harmless mishaps that did not leave any real physical damage, there are accidents out there that can leave the person in immense pain. Some of these can include rear-end collisions, falling while on the job, or getting injured while playing a contact sport. These types of cases can jar the spine and neck and lead to permanent spinal and muscular damage if the situation is not treated in a timely manner.

The best way to treat such injuries to the spine is to see a trusted chiropractic doctor. Chiropractors receive extensive schooling and on the job training about how the spine works and how to successfully treat spinal injuries when they occur. They have a deep understanding about the interconnections that the spine has with every part of our bodies and know that when a vertebrate is misaligned, other symptoms will be begin to show themselves. It is not usually until these secondary symptoms are noticed that the injured person actually seeks medical attention. But chiropractors know that if you are feeling dizzy, nauseous, have shooting pains in your arms, legs, or are having digestive issues, that your spine or neck needs adjustments.

But you may be asking yourself what some of the injuries are that can be treated by a chiropractor. The list is extensive and impressive. Whiplash is the most common injury to the neck that requires a chiropractor's special care. Since whiplash has a tendency to show up days or even weeks after an accident, it can be a difficult injury to diagnose. But since chiropractors see this type of injury often, they know what signs and symptoms to watch out for such as ringing in the ear, fatigue, neck pain, jaw pain, and even dizziness. Another type of injury that chiropractors have treated successfully is a herniated disc. They will tend to look for pain in the back where the herniation is occurring and then look for shooting pains in the extremities of the body such as the legs and arms, a burning sensation if the disc is touching a nerve, numbness, or tingling.

The treatments that most chiropractors use are efficient, take up very little of the patient's time, and are on the cutting edge of spine injury treatments out there. Out are the days of the old-fashioned traction system that used ropes and pulleys and in are the high-tech, computerized tables that do the work in a fraction of the time. Traction is an excellent way to get that herniated or bulging disc back between the vertebrates where it belongs by gently pulling the spine in opposite directions and creating space for the disc to move back into place. There are also laser therapies, massage, and specialized tables that are all utilized in today's chiropractic field; all of which are non-invasive and drug free. So if you have an injury, you should be chiropractic a try.
