The wedding day is a special day for most women. It is a day that most women dream of since the age of five. This is a day to celebrate their love and to celebrate themselves. Every woman wants to look amazing in their wedding dress. All eyes are on the bride and most brides to be embark on weight loss routines to lose the fat and get into great shape for their wedding day. The problem for some is that they have stubborn fat in the belly, bra area, buttocks or back of the arms that just won't budge in time.
Some brides are turning to fat reduction surgery to help them look great on their big day. But with surgery comes risk and every precaution should be taken before going under the knife. . .scalpel or laser. Anyone considering reducing fat through surgery should have a consultation with a board certified doctor to choose the best option for them. Laser liposuction is the easiest and results in minimal scarring, bruising and swelling. It also has skin tightening benefits, but is only recommended for those with less than fifteen pounds of fat to lose and someone who has good skin elasticity, generally someone under sixty years old. Traditional liposuction works for larger amounts of fat but on those whose skin is still in good condition. But for those with large amounts of fat to lose in the abdomen area, that may produce sagging skin, a tummy tuck might be a better option.
A tuck is performed under general anesthesia, where an incision is made in the abdomen from hip bone to hip bone below the belly button and above the pubic bone. A second incision is made around the belly button. The skin and fat flap is lifted to reveal the underlying muscle. The surgeon will pull the muscle closer together and stitch them, providing a firm abdominal wall and subsequently a thinner waistline. The raised skin is pulled down tight over the muscle back down the public bone incision and the excess skin with fat is cut off. Then the skin flap is stitched back to the original incision at the pubic bone. A new belly button is formed by creating a hole where the underlying belly button is and pulling it through. The surgery takes roughly two to five hours, depending on the amount of fat and skin being removed.
Recovery time is generally two weeks of light activity while wearing a compression garment to reduce swelling. Pain is managed with pain medication. Smoking and sun tanning should be avoided during the recovery period.
