In Philadelphia, dental veneers are specially designed shells of ceramic material that can cover worn or damaged tooth enamel, correct chips, cracks, and spacing problems, and can also correct uneven tooth alignment. Cosmetic dentistry is the category that veneers fall into because they result in bright smiles with white teeth that are straight and have a good shape to them.

Dental veneers are so popular in Philadelphia because the translucence of the ceramic provides a very natural look that is much more realistic than what has been available up until now. No matter what is wrong with a patients oral appearance and their teeth, dental veneers can solve almost all cosmetic dental issues. Some of those issues are worn enamel, wear and tear, uneven teeth, and unattractive teeth from genetics.

Over time, the thin, hard, white enamel on your teeth can become dull, discolored, and very worn. This could just be the natural result of age, or it could also be genetic predispositions. Usually, however, it is a result of peoples habits such as drinking cola, coffee, and tea and smoking. Teeth also naturally wear down as people get older. The older teeth are the ones that are more likely to have chips, damages, and an uneven appearance as a whole.

Genetics play a large role in how teeth are colored, and some people might be born with spacing between the teeth that gets worse as they age. Teeth that are not even can be caused by grinding. Small chips and cracks can be repaired with bonding, and can also be repaired with a composite white filling. The resin can be bonded to the tooth to fill in the cracks and chips to protect the tooth from further damage. For more severe cases of damage, though, dental veneers might be recommended as a more sturdy solution.

The two most common things used for dental veneers are porcelain and composite resin. Both materials can be made by a dental technician in a laboratory. Veneers that are composite resin can also be fabricated right inside a patients mouth at the dental office. Those that are made in a dental laboratory are cemented to the teeth with different types of resin cement.

Between these two kinds of veneers in Philadelphia, porcelain veneers last longer and are more expensive than composite resin. However, many people also think the higher price for porcelain in the beginning actually turns into a cheaper fix in the long run, because composite resin tends to not last as long and those veneers must be replaced more often.
