Having any kind of surgery is not always an easy or simple decision to make. Having a tummy tuck is no different. You may have different thoughts running through your mind. You may think about whether or not the surgery will be a success. Of course, that lies with the surgeon who is performing the procedure.

You should go through a selection process to find the surgeon that will best suit you. Just like the decision of having surgery, finding a surgeon is not a bed of roses, either. This article will provide some guidelines that you can use in order to find a surgeon that you can be comfortable with.

A tummy tuck surgeon who is board certified is your best choice. The proof of this is being certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. The surgeon is required to have two years or more of plastic surgery experience.

They should also have experience in all areas of cosmetic surgery. A board certified plastic surgeon has been found eligible by fellow surgeons to perform any kid of cosmetic surgery. They also perform surgeries from an accredited health care facility.

You should not hesitate to ask the surgeon how many procedures they have performed in the past. You should also ask them how often they perform these types of surgeries. If you have a surgeon that performs these surgeries on a regular basis, you chances of recovery are better. If you have a surgeon who only does them so many times a year, then the risks may be greater.

You can ask the surgeon for proof of his work in the way of photographs. If they are honest and ethical, they should not have a problem honoring your request. Even with that, keep in mind that the results after your surgery may still be different.

However, you will have an idea of what the results can be when you look at the before and after photos. Of course, if you not satisfied with what you are seeing, you can always consult with another surgeon who does tummy tucks.

Where a surgeon performs tummy tuck surgeries is important. The health care facility should be accredited. There are two organizations that are responsible for accreditation: the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations or JCAHO; and the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Healthcare or AAAHC. Either one of them can provide accreditation to those facilities that are in compliance with standards in regard to performing surgeries.

If you are still not sure about the surgical procedure and the surgeon, you should not hesitate to get a second opinion. Also, seek out more than one surgeon. This is helpful in the event some of the first ones are not what you are looking for.
