For many people, the word "liposuction" conjures up images of plastic surgeons either cutting fat out of the body, or using something very like a vacuum to suck it out. Happily, those days are quickly coming to an end. A third option is ultrasonic liposuction, in which the doctor injects a gel into the fatty areas, similar to injection based liposuction, then uses ultrasound equipment to burst the gel, which breaks up nearby fat cells. Both the gel and the fat cells are then flushed away naturally by the body.
