It's a sad fact that a lot of the gifts we give people these days aren't exactly great for their health. For example, when was the last time you bought someone a bottle of wine, a box of chocolates or a computer game. With health consciousness at an all time high, here are some great suggestions for health-giving gifts.

.) Electronic Cigarette. This is quite a new gadget on the market, but a very cleaver one none the less. It is a cigarette that you can smoke normally and you can even include nicotine as well if you like, but the rest of the smoke is harmless. All you need to do is charge it up, pop in a refill and off you go. Perfect for anyone who can't quit yet, but cares about their health and likes innovative toys.

.) Wii Fit. The Wii games console is pretty much the most actively demanding of all consoles already, but when they bought out the Wii Fit, they took the health benefits of the Wii to a league of its own. If your friend or relative like computer games, but doesn't like the belly that it gives them, the Wii fit is the perfect compromise. You don't even need to pay for gym membership either this way.

.) Smoothie maker. Forget the bottles of wine and whisky, a much more thoughtful gift to buy someone is a smoothie maker and a book of smoothie recipes. These drinks have skyrocketed in popularity over the last five years and with good reason. Not only do they taste great but also contribute an average of two of your daily five portions of fruit and veg. Additionally, you can demand that they make you some smoothies in return for your kind gesture. It's a win-win situation.

.) Nike iPod Sport Kit. Lots of people take up running only to get bored within a few weeks and pack the whole thing in. The iPod Sport Kit, which has been developed in collaboration with Nike is the perfect answer for those who get bored easily as it keeps you motivated. You place a little chip in the tongue of your shoe and it tracks how far you have traveled and how fast you have gone. This data can then be relayed to your iPod or computer and you can see your progress. Also, the chip can pick up your running pattern and make your iPod play tunes at the same tempo. Now that's cleaver.
