Lunges

Lunges are effective exercises for the lower body. You can do the lunge on standing position, or you can also do it with a bench, or even walking or lunging while walking. You can also do it without any equipment but you can make use of dumbbells or barbells to intensify your lunges. However, if you are a beginner, you might want to do your lunges without the weights first. Leg raises

Leg raises are also great exercises for the lower body. You can also do this lying, standing or lying on your side. For more advanced exercisers, they can even do the leg lift on an exercise ball, but if you are just starting out, you need not hurry into taking the complex exercises. Even how simple are your exercises, for as long as you are doing it correctly, you would for sure get the most out of it. The benefits of leg raises include strengthening of the muscles in the hips and thighs and also in toning your lower abdominal muscles.

Hip extensions

Another exercise good for the lower body is the hip extension exercise. This exercise builds strength of the muscles in your lower back as well as in your buttocks.

Of course, you should not forget the simple but excellent exercises that do not only work out the muscles in your legs and lower body but are also excellent exercises to burn calories and fats all over your body. Your cardio exercises should be on top of your list. Brisk walking, jogging, skipping, hiking, cycling - they are just some of the cardio exercises that are also good exercises for the lower body and great workouts as well in maintaining your ideal weight.
