Endometriosis and stabbing low back pain go hand in hand as the pain is one of the most common symptoms of endometriosis. Usually this pain comes with period pain. It is associated mostly with endometriosis in the rectovaginal septum, uterosacral ligaments and the pouch of douglas.

Endometriosis itself is caused by growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterus meaning it is an illness that mainly women in their childbearing years experience. Usually it grows on organs contained within your pelvic cavity and can be found in several places at once. It can be found beneath or on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, around and behind the tissues, bladder and bowels. In rare cases it does grow outside the pelvic cavity.

Endometriosis and stabbing low back pain can be eased at home using a few methods. One of the best things to do is administer regular analgesics and have an easy back massage.

Another great help is exercise to alleviate back pain. This helps in stimulating circulation and reduces congestion in the pelvis which causes back pain. 10 to 15 minutes of light stretching exercises can help you ease the pain considerably. When suffering from endometriosis and stabbing low back pain you need to avoid lifting large weights or pushing and pulling large objects as they strain your back and could add to your problem.

If the back pain persists, applying cold compresses to your back may help. Take a towel and wrap an ice pack in it, then hold it to the painful area for about 15 minutes. Repeat this 4 times daily and you will see results. Please note that you should never directly apply ice on your skin.

Another great help for endometriosis and stabbing low back pain is getting comfortable on the floor. Lie down with your back on the floor then raise your legs and rest them on a chair. This aligns your back and makes the pain less.

Another thing is to ensure that you get enough rest. This does not mean that you lay in bed for hours on end as moving around will keep your muscles strong and flexible, which in itself is a great remedy for back pain.

Heat is another great solution for endometriosis and stabbing low back pain. This can be in the form of a warm pack, an electric pillow, warm compresses or a heating lamp. These will help with easing muscle tension and pain.

If you feel the need, you can also get a support belt or girdle that can help by providing comfort and local heat to ease pain.

If the pain does not get relief from any of these methods then be sure to consult your doctor who may prescribe something for it.

Endometriosis and stabbing low back pain can be frightening and depressing at the same time. However, the pain can be controlled so that it does not affect your daily activities. Endometriosis and stabbing low back pain does not have to be crippling. Find a solution that works for you and let it ease your pain.
