Many pregnant women or mothers have considered having a tummy tuck because of the aftermath of pregnancy. Some mothers have even considered having an abdominoplasty shortly after giving birth. On the other hand, it's not a good idea to have a major surgery immediately after giving birth. There are some guidelines to consider when having an fat reduction surgery after giving birth.

Anyone that's planning to have an this type of surgery must not plan on having anymore kids. The reason is an the surgery removes skin from the stomach area and the procedure will leave less skin in this area. In addition, pregnancy causes the skin in the abdominal to stretch and there will be less skin to stretch for pregnancy after having surgery for fat reduction. Also, having the procedure and becoming pregnant could lead to skin damage and stretch marks.

Most women bodies need to heal after giving birth and could take around six weeks before the body is completely healed. Also, pregnancy could have some major affects on the body and another surgical procedure in a short time could cause trauma to the body. It doesn't matter if you have a C-section or a natural birth, the body will still experience some tears, bruising, cuts and swelling that will need to heal before having any other surgeries.

Most mothers that plan to have a tummy tuck should lose the baby weight before having the surgery. It's important to lose the baby weight first because you could have the surgery and the body could not be finish shedding the baby weight. As a result, you could be left with saggy skin even though you had an surgery. It's important to remember that an fat reduction surgery is not a substitute for losing weight. Although it can smooth and slim the stomach area but it will not cause that much reduction in weight.

A new baby can be a handful and it would be best to establish a routine before having any major surgeries. Also, you will be unable to lift, stretch or strain after having an abdominoplasty. In addition you will need to have plenty of rest to deal with the pain. It's important to limit movement within the first week of having a tummy tuck and this would be impossible to do with a newborn. Less movement is important to prevent opening the incision, bleeding or swelling.

If you are deciding to have this done, then it would be a good idea to ask a skilled surgeon about the best time to have the procedure. Many doctors will proceed with the procedure between six weeks to six months but it depends on each patient body. It is important to not rush into having a tummy tuck and to talk to a skilled doctor about the best time to have the surgery.
