Deciding to have fat reduction surgery or any kind of surgery for that matter, is a critical decision. All surgery carries some risk and all precautions and risks should be discussed with a certified physician via a consultation. Surgery that removes fat from the abdomen is requested most by men whose age has caused excess fat in the mid section, a place where men typically store fat, as well as women who have been pregnant or are over sixty years old with loose or saggy skin. Liposuction has been successful in removing fat, but excess skin poses a problem and may require further corrective surgery.

Upon deciding to have a tuck, the next decision is whether to opt for a general one or a complete one. Both surgeries are different with results. During a general tuck the surgeon makes an incision from hip bone to hip bone just above the public bone and in a straight line. The flap of skin with fat attached is lifted to reveal the underlying muscle, where the surgeon can pull them together more tightly and stitch them. Then the flap is pulled down to the incision line tightly and the excess skin and fat is cut off. The skin flap is stitched back to the incision line and a hole is made in the skin for a new belly button.

During the complete version, the surgeon begins the incision at the bikini line directly at the hip bone. Instead of going straight across, the surgeon slices down at an angle towards the pubic bone then cuts across directly above the public bone and angles back up to the other hip bone. The rest is done the same way by pulling up the skin flap, tightening the muscles underneath, pulling the flat down taught to the incision line, cutting off the excess skin and fat, then stitching the flap back to the incision line. A hole is cut to make a new belly button.
Women who like to wear low cut bikinis or jeans, or who have lower belly bulge that protrudes and want a more aesthetic look, opt for the complete version, where the scar is hidden under a bikini, panties or jeans.

This procedure firms the abdomen and thins the waist without making it obvious that surgery has been performed. Fat cells removed are permanent and long lasting as fat cells are not reproduced in an adult body.
