Anyone who has ever tried losing weight knows that weight loss is hard. It doesnt matter if you use appetite suppressants, metabolism enhancers, exercise, dieting, or combinations of any of those methods. The bottom line is that successful weight loss is so challenging because there is no end to it; once you go back to the eating habits that made you overweight to begin with, the weight seems to pile back on.
Even though there are zillions of diet supplements, methods, and programs for slimming down, there is just no suitable substitute for good old fashioned elbow grease and hard work. What determines a persons success with losing weight is their determination to work hard and to keep working hard for the rest of their life. The key is not thinking of losing weight as a diet; a diet has an end. It must be thought of as a lifestyle change, and it is a struggle. However, there are some tips, tricks, and methods that will help you ensure that you become a successful weight loss story.
First of all, many people fail at slimming down because right off the bat they choose the wrong diet for them. It is imperative that you choose a diet that fits your lifestyle. Youve got to be able to live with it day in and day out. If you know for a fact that there is no way that you can drink diet shakes and never eat food, dont even start it. You are setting yourself up for failure when you do that. If a plan calls for you to blend vegetables of all kinds together but you cannot stand to drink vegetable juice, youll fail even before you begin.
Tip number two is to GET REAL. The other main reason that losing weight is so difficult is because people want to see results of their hard work NOW. It is best to set small goals for yourself; instead of wanting to lose 10 pounds by next Tuesday, begin by making a goal of a weight loss of any amount. If you weigh in every week expecting a huge drop in the numbers, you will fail at your goals more often than youll meet them. However, if you set a goal that as long as the numbers are going down every week, chances are pretty good that youll succeed most of the time. Be patient, and understand that anything worth having must be earned and not given.
No matter how hard most of us try, we just cannot fall in love with exercise. Yes, there are those who really do thrive on it, but the majority of us would rather not workout. Unfortunately, exercise is pretty much a requirement for losing weight, so you have got to find something that you can do most days of the week. Even if it is making it a point to bounce your legs every time you sit down, great! Again, start small. Dont make a goal of exercising for two hours every day of the week without fail. You are setting yourself up for defeat again! Start with taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Park your car a little farther from the door. Reach down towards the floor and come back up ten times. No matter how small the effort, the hard work, elbow grease, and effort is still progress, so keep at it even if you slip up sometimes. The worst thing you can do is blow it one day and give up the next.
