There are many facts that simply sneak up on us. We may not be aware of it, but there are certain elements in our daily lives that we simply are ignorant of. One of these is the fact that we consume too much MSG without realizing it. The second is that the implication of this is quite telling of how unhealthy and unfit we all are.

MSG is known as monosodium glutamate, it is actually a managed neurotransmitter that breaks down during the digestive process. It is from the strain of seaweeds, today, it is invented from fermenting sugar beet molasses. This free glutamate protects the blood-brain barrier from entering the brain. If blood levels reside high, glutamate gradually seeps into the brain. There is research that revealed both glutamate and aspartame cause complication of retina cells in mice and kill basic neurons in the brain itself.

MSG has also been linked to impaired learning and behavioral complication in children, anger, obesity and diabetes as well. Children should avoid MSG as their brains are more inclined to be affected by this food additive than adults. As appetite motivation the MSG along with the unnatural sweetener aspartame, may tend to obesity as well. While aspartame has virtually no calories; studies have shown that it may energize the appetite. This may also be the case with MSG. MSG has also led individuals to eat more food or be less aggressive and its metabolic effects on the body which may cultivate people to weight gain.

Mr. John Erb is a research assistant at the University of Ontario who wrote the book about MSG. In this book, MSG relates as "The Slow Poisoning of America". The MSG subject is not new and yet it has not given ample attention. It is necessary to understand that the glutamate given to animal subjects is regularly a manufactured product produce in food/or chemical manufacturing plants.

Mostly, users are not familiar of the attendance of MSG in the product that they used. Here are part of lists of other names for MSG: (1) monosodium glutamate, monopotassium glutamate, glutamic acid; (2) anything that says hydrolyzed (such hydrolyzed vegetable protein); (3) anything that say autolized; (4) anything that says natural flavor or flavors, typical flavoring; (5) calcium caseinate; (6) sodium caseinate; (7) yeast extract; (8) seasoning; (9) soy protein, wheat protein, whey protein and anything fortified protein; (10) textured protein; (11) carrageenan; (12) gelatin; (13) soy sauce; (14) bouillon, pork, chicken and beef; (15) barley malt, malt extract, maltodextrin; (16) enzymes; (17) corn syrup, corn starch, dextrose; (18) citric acid. The Food of Drugs and Administration (FDA) told that product must be labeled this way.

Perpetually have an equity diet and exercise will help in attaining a good flow of the system. That is the most that we can do so as to ensure that we can be healthy. Of course, averting of the use of MSG can also aid in this pursuit mightily. For that reason and more, the public is thus advised to be cautious in using food additives in preparing meals; especially if the said food additive is MSG.
