Diabetes: A Prevailing Chronic Disorder

In the years to come our style of living is reflective of how our health and wellness will be. The active and healthy lifestyles of some people have no worries of declining health. But for people who tend to do differently like the eating habits and foods which are insufficient in nutrients, definitely there is an obstacle.

Indeed, it is already a known fact that among the consequences that an unhealthy lifestyle can cause are the dilemmas of chronic diseases. At the top of the list of the chronic diseases that we should avoid is diabetes. Admittedly, chronic diseases are all hard to manage, but of all the chronic diseases that are directly related to unhealthy lifestyles, diabetes has the most number of other health-related complexities.

Diabetes can be called a growing epidemic, for the reasons that its prevalence has been known to escalate. Actually, the number of people who have died due to the dilemma brought by diabetes has also increased remarkably. Diabetes is a disease in which the body has due to a certain shortage or inadequacy in the secretion and production of insulin.

The problem can also be due to a decreased ability to use insulin, a hormone that subsidizes glucose (sugar) to enter cells and be changed to energy. When diabetes is not controlled, glucose and fats remain in the blood and, over time, damage necessary organs. There are types of diabetes: Type 1 diabetes usually strikes children and young adults, although the disease can appear at any age. Type 1 may be autoimmune, genetic, and/or environmental. There is no known way to prevent this type of diabetes; Type 2 diabetes, which is linked to obesity and physical inactivity, accounts for 90%-95% of diabetes cases and most often appears in people older than 40; meanwhile, there is also what is called Prediabetes, a state in which individuals have blood glucose levels higher than normal but not high enough to be classified as diabetes;

There's also Gestational diabetes, a form of glucose intolerance diagnosed during pregnancy. Women who have had gestational diabetes have a 40% to 60% chance of developing diabetes in the next 5-10 years; Other types of diabetes repercussion from specific genetic case (such as maturity-onset diabetes of youth), surgery, medications, infections, pancreatic disease, and other illnesses. Other types of diabetes account for 1% to 5% of all diagnosed cases. Fortunately, diabetes is preventable and governable and it can also be avoided through several healthy manners.

First, opt to engage in exercise because it helps the body to function better; to function efficiently. Through exercise, the vital organs of the body, including the pancreas, can function optimally and as such, it can also pump out more insulin, a hormone which is used to administer the level of blood sugar levels in the blood stream. Secondly, d o not smoke.

Although the ill-effects of smoking are also a leading fact, there is actually another reason to avoid smoking. Smoking can shrink the blood vessels and this would result in the bloods difficultly to have the blood flowing freely in the bloodstream. Thus, the outcome is that of a strained bloodstream and a blood glucose that will be hard to control.

Last but not the least, opt for healthy foods. Having a wide variety of healthy foods is a good option for those who are likely to be diagnosed with diabetes.
