We just can't help it. Every time we are faced with a sumptuous meal selection we end up battling with reasons in our head. We take that splurge on eating and then convince ourselves that we will just do some exercise routines to burn it off. Health experts have tagged this behavior as "the false-hope syndrome" which is definitely not the wisest way to go with weight management.
Most dieters aim too high with weight loss and research shows this is a major contributor why such goals end up in failure. When we feel that the type of diet we have chosen does not seem to produce fast results, we tend to give up and seek other programs. But in between we indulge again on the wrong stuff thinking that we would find the next program more effective. Another reason that contributes to weight gain.
There are ways on how we could put some sense into our weight management goals as devised by health experts.
First is acceptance that weight loss would really take some time most especially if your aiming for a long term results. And do not reach for far fetched goals. Try aiming for as little as 10 pounds off your weight on your first few weeks. Eventually the more you attain success on this task the more inspired you become to continue on the path to more weight loss.
Second, prioritize safety. Do not resort to fad diets just to experience speedy result on weight loss. More often than not, dieters opt for weight loss products that contains strong formulations and even go forth blindly with the health risking effects it could bring. In example, many people know that Ephedrine is a very strong stimulant that could bring forth weight loss effectively but which was later on known to induce negative effects such as nausea, drowsiness or even death in grave cases. The FDA enforced a ban on this ingredient from the weight loss market which was later on lifted but was limited to a prescribed dosage. Still, there are better ways on which one could achieve weight loss without the risking health.
Third, take note of your progress. This could also set a motivation to push forward with the weight loss program you have chosen when you see that you have made positive changes. You would be able to keep track as well on how much weight you could lose in week's time.
Having the proper attitude and approach to weight loss is indeed viable. One should bear in mind that weight gain did not happen overnight. It took years to accumulate it and it certainly wouldn't go away with any magic products. The traditional way to lose weight which is exercise regimen and healthy eating habits is the surest way to achieve weight loss and also keep the weight off for a longer period of time.
The quest for weight loss should not be treated as a one time deal. It should be incorporated in our daily lifestyle or turn into a habit. Doing so would also help us feel that going for the ideals involved in weight loss is not at all bothersome or a burden.
