There are many kinds of headaches that you may have to deal with, but few people actually know if their headache is a migraine or if it's just a headache.
Knowing the difference between these kinds of headaches can help to see if you need the attention of a doctor of if you are able to take care of them on your own.

What Is A Migraine?

A Migraine is a kind of headache that usually occurs on one side of the head and pulsates. When you are having a migraine, you are usually very sensitive to light and sound and may have nausea and vomiting as well. Many people say that they see a change in the way that they see things before they have a migraine, and it's usually a warning that one is coming on in the next few hours.

Normal Headaches Compared To Migraines

There are ways that you can tell when that headache of yours is just that and when it's something more. The first is the position of the headache. Migraines are usually one half of the head where regular headaches are in other parts of the head. Also headaches are not as intense as migraines are. When you get a migraine, you will most likely know that you are having one instead of a normal everyday headache.

Treatments for Migraines

There are a few different treatments that you can go through if you have headaches or even migraines.
Regular headaches can be treated with just an aspirin and a glass of water. You can also add in a cracker or little bit of toast if you have a sensitive stomach. You may also chose to lie down and rest to get rid of the headache.

Most will go away within a couple of hours of these methods the headache will be nothing to really worry about. If you're concerned, you can ask your doctor about your options and see what they offer you.

Migraines need a little more treatment most of the time. If you have a history of migraines, you may need to be on a doctor prescribed medication that helps with your migraines. This may be something as simple as taking a pill everyday to having a treatment with your doctor every week or two. They may also look at your type of work and what you might be doing to help bring on the migraines. That way they can take steps to get rid of the causes.

Migraines are not always easy to get rid of and can be hard to deal with, but knowing if you truly have a migraine or not is half of the battle. The best thing that anyone can do is to try and get the help that they need for the problems that they may be having with their migraines. Take the time to talk to your doctor and see what they can do for you. That way you will know that you are getting the best treatment possible.
