A healthy diet can move mountains. This is an exaggeration, or so it seems, but the implication of this statement is that a healthy diet can do much and its effect on the body, in terms of physical and non-physical attributes, is endless and seemingly infinite. Indeed, we can go far if we resort to a healthy diet. A healthy diet can be a subjective one. We say this because there are various forms of healthy and balanced diets that we can follow in order to reap the benefits that these diets offer. But according to several studies, the most healthy and ideal way to go about when a balanced diet is discussed is a diet that is high on fiber.

A high-fiber diet is a diet that is mostly comprised of healthy food choices such as fruits and vegetables. An added variety of fibers consist of wheat, rye, whole grain breads and pastas, and the likes. Some diets may be too restrictive to the extent that adhering to such diets may be unwelcoming for dieters. The good thing with a high-fiber diet is that the list of fibrous foods is lengthy and extensive; moreover, the food choices for a high-fiber diet are also quite tasty and delicious. In more ways than one, a healthy diet is indeed ideal. Fibers helps weep away harmful body toxins, it is also an efficient aid that can help in cleansing and detoxification processes. For all the good that a fibrous diet can do to our system, we find that this diet will pique the interest of more people because it also has a purported effect on weight loss. As we all know, an ideal body weight and measurement is associated with a healthy way of life. As such, we should all aim to get the ideal body weight and measurement so as to ensure that we are healthy and have less chances of succumbing to various diseases and other troubling health conditions.

From a known institute for health, they state that the recommendable amount of fiber in a day for Americans is 20 to 35 grams but it seems that the maximum count they achieve is 15 grams, if any at all. This is related to the Standard American Diet or SAD that people have grown accustomed to. It contains entrees with high fat contents, refined forms of carbohydrates and fruits and vegetables. Many experts agree in recommending fiber in almost everyone's diet. Having a healthy digestive and cardiovascular system are the benefits that are commonly induced by such diets. Even with a small amount of fiber in the system it is already a great step in having a healthy supplementation.

Fiber comes from the indigestible parts of the plant and comes in two types, the soluble and insoluble. Such types are necessary inclusion in diet for its known benefits in the body. More often fiber types are compared with that of a kitchen sponge which dually serves a purpose for cleaning a pile of dirty dishes. The rough side of the sponge can be compared with that of the insoluble one and the absorbent side is the soluble part.
