Anger affects everyone at one time or another. Whether you bottle up your rage and let it all out at once or get angry often, you have been guilty of having these feelings just like everyone else.
Anger is one of our most basic instincts. People experience anger when they are faced with a situation that they cannot control. Some things that can cause anger are: favorite basketball team losing, seeing somebody beat an animal or being fired from a job.
Anger is not always a bad thing. It can be healthy when it is expressed and handled in the right way. You are the one who determines whether the anger you experience is positive or negative. Anger is positive when it leads you to dealing with a situation and the end result is solving an issue with someone.
Finding a positive way to deal with your anger is a great tool you can use to put perspective on your negative emotions. Just realize when anger is setting in and you can find a constructive way to channel it. Some of the things you can try are going to the gym, taking a jog or listening to some of your favorite music.
On the other hand, a negative expression of anger only leads to bad situations. It is never fun to be out of control or cause a threat to people you care about. If you let it get out of control you will no longer be able to think right and end up causing yourself more trouble in the end.
If you consistently suffer from anger, that causes you to have problems with those close to you, then you might have an anger disorder. You should seriously consider seeking help right away. There are ways to get help that can make you and everyone around you feel much better.
Anger disorders are usually a result of years of suppressing anger or a history of abuse. It is very risky to keep anger locked up inside, not only to you but to everyone you know. An explosion can happen at any given time. Also, once you have blown up at someone they will have trouble feeling comfortable around you in the future.
Not dealing with anger issues can lead to very serious problems. Not only will you have emotional problems but it can take a physical toll on you. Large amounts of anger can lead to stomach issues and back pain or even thoughts of suicide.
Life is much to short for anyone to be miserable and make people around them the same way. Don't be afraid to talk to your doctor if you think your anger is causing you and your family problems.
