Despite the many options available, there has not been a single weight loss method found that can generate optimum results. One reason for this is the fact that people respond differently to a given method. When it comes to weight loss, there is no one solution that works for everyone. In the meantime, the number of overweight and obese individuals continue to rise. Clearly, the epidemic of obesity in this country is far from being over.
The term "weight problem" is not strictly limited to having too much of it. Because of the sheer number of people who are trying to lose weight, we tend to overlook the other type of weight problem which is, not having enough of it. With society's obsession with thinness, being underweight is even perceived by some as a goal to strive for. Nevertheless, being overweight and underweight are health concerns that need to be addressed.
Interestingly, a single solution has been found to these two types of weight dilemmas. According to recent studies done in California, white tea can be helpful to both the overweight and underweight due to its distinct properties that regularize the body's metabolic processes. In other words, it acts on the individual drinker's metabolism in a manner that will positively affect his or her health, wellness and nutrition.
White tea contains caffeine, a stimulant which is widely known for the unpleasant side-effects it triggers. However, recent studies on white tea show that its stimulant effects are almost negligible. Aside from the immune boosting and anti-aging benefits it offers due to its high antioxidant content, white tea has also been discovered to aid in the management of diabetes. This conclusion is based on the results of a study done in Massachusetts in late 2008.
Researchers did a comparative study of the polysaccharide levels of green, oolong and white teas and whether they could be used in the treatment of diabetes. Polysaccharides, which is a type of carbohydrate that includes starch and cellulose, help slow down the absorption of glucose and therefore may be beneficial to diabetics. It was found that among the three teas, only white tea contains the elements necessary to fight insulin impairment to the maximum extent.
In conclusion, we can see that white tea is clearly a versatile drink that addresses not only the needs of people struggling with various health issues, but the body needs of people aiming to achieve overall good health.
