Weight loss pills have been around for decades but the interest in them has not really waned. People still use them and many more are curious about what these pills can really do. There are also questions about their safety. In this article, we will try to provide some light on the most relevant issues concerning these controversial pills.
These capsule-based formulas are known for their promise of quick weight loss. Many people find this option attractive and indeed those who take diet pills are often those who are not motivated and disciplined enough to stick to a fitness program or a diet plan.

Before you start taking a diet pill, do your research. Do not be lured by the hype created by advertisers. A lot of these pills are claimed to generate impressive weight loss results within a short period of time but more often than not, this is not really true. However, this is not to say that all weight loss pills don't work. Nevertheless, there are more that not are not effective, but in fact even cause serious harm to the body.

Many Americans are serious about their weight loss pursuits. One research shows that Americans spend an estimated fifty billion dollars annually for weight loss programs alone with almost six billion of these used on products which do not even work.

The two main types of diet pills—prescription and over-the-counter. Prescription weight loss pills refer to those which have been approved by government-related agencies that have done studies on the possible effects of these drugs on users.

These pills are often prescribed to dieters who have been classified as obese. According to Health Experts, a person with a body mass index of more than 35 is considered obese. Although physicians recommend that they take weight loss pills, they should only be used to supplement a carefully designed weight loss diet.

Over-the-counter pills on the other hand, are really more of a food supplement than a weight loss drug because these have not been tested by the same government agencies that handle prescription pills. At present, there are many over-the-counter drugs that do not have important marketing labels and dosage instructions.

So far, there hasn't been any evidence which shows that people who failed to achieve weight loss through diet and exercise have found success using diet pills.
Generally speaking, weight loss pills do more harm to the body than good. Furthermore, these aids do not always create weight loss. In our opinion, the natural weight loss method of diet and exercise is still the best.
