Fats are not good because it can add to weight gain and obesity. Aside from this, fats are also one of the major contributing factors that lead to various forms of heart diseases and disorders. But do you know that there's another reason why we should stay away from foods that are laden with too much fats? Recent studies reveal that fats should be eliminated from our food choices because it secretes hormones that influence certain individuals to overeat. According to the said study, a hormone called Leptin influences our motivation to eat. This hormone is produced by fat tissues that are accumulated in our system when too much is ingested in our digestive tract. More than anything else, this study also shows that Leptin doesn't turn your appetite on and off just by controlling whether you feel hungry or full. It can also make you want food more or less regardless of hunger.

To say that fats are bad for our health and for our quest to manage our weight is an understatement. Although it is true that fats can be prepared for meals in such a way that it should be a little healthy, the fact is that facts are still generally bad for us. Moreover, even if fats are delicious and tasty for most people, its ill-effects are more than enough to make dieters ward off from these types of food. Just think of all the effects that eating fats can bring and you'll surely be the one to take it our of your heaping plate whenever the chance to eat these foods arise. Due to the fact that our bodies are laden with toxins from the unwise food choices that we have, going for a cleansing and detoxification process is quite ideal.

Cleansing and detoxification are two different but related processes. The former is the elimination of toxic matter, stored wastes and other harmful substances from the body. The latter is more specific as it refers to the process by which the body transforms the harmful toxins into a less harmful form. Both cleansing and detoxification are total body processes and there are seven channels of elimination involved the liver, lungs, skin, blood, bowel, lymphatic system, and kidneys.

Every organ that does the work of elimination needs certain substances in order for it to do its specific job. The liver for instance uses amino acids and sulfur compounds. The colon, on the other hand, is supported by fiber contained in the diet. Fiber not only supports regular bowel movement but absorbs excess toxins and flushes these out of the system. Unfortunately, because of our lifestyle and environmental changes which are beyond our control, we are not able to provide our bodies with the nutritional tools and support it needs to properly cleanse and detoxify.

A look at history tells us that humans have always known the importance of cleansing and detoxification. Our ancestors practiced cleansing, fasting and purification rituals to eliminate toxins from the body caused by their lifestyle and the environment in which they lived. At the same time, they also took care of their diet and nutrition to make sure they were well-nourished during and after cleansing.
