I think I do not need to tell you, that it builds smoking builds up an addiction to nicotine very quickly. I'm just mentioning it, because it is one of the first effects, and the major effect that is responsible for the disability of people to quit smoking.

1. The Metabolism
Smoking has the effect of accelerating the metabolism. WARNING: This is NO appeal to start smoking for weight loss! It does not work, as the weight loss effect does only last for a very short time, and gets lost afterwards. In exchange, you will be addicted to cigarettes, so please leave it!

2. Smoking for concentration is self-cheating
Smoking seems to be able to raise the concentration, but this is just an illusion. Let me explain: Once you start smoking, your brain starts to make you feel the need for nicotine. As soon as you feel this need, you are not able to stay focused anymore. Giving your brain what it wants makes it feel pleased and you will be able to concentrate (usually for the next 45 - 60 minutes after the last cigarette). This means that smoking does only solve a problem that was caused by smoking. Considering this smoking cigarettes to raise concentration is nothing else that cheating yourself.

3. Smoking for stress relief is also self-cheating
Smoking cigarettes builds up stress. Now you may say "STOP!". Perhaps you have heard that smoking cigarettes relieves stress, but this is one BIG lie! It is just the same thing with the stress as with the concentration. Once you start smoking, your brain gets addicted to it, and every time it needs nicotine it starts giving you the feeling of something missing. By smoking and with it giving your brain what it wants, smoking gives you the feeling of solving a stress problem, but in fact it is just the same thing with the concentration. You solve a problem that has originally been caused by smoking cigarettes, and this way you keep on cheating yourself.

4. Your senses break down
Another effect of smoking cigarettes is the damping of your senses. Many smokers just don't want to believe that, but this is a major effect of smoking. How often have you been in situations in which others told you, that something smells pretty strange or even bad, and you just had to tell them, that you cannot smell anything? Think deeper: Can you be sure, that you do always smell good, if you are not able to smell properly? As a matter of fact you will only be able to smell the difference when you stop smoking. The same thing goes for tasting.

The effects mentioned above are of course some of the major effects, but believe me when I say that there's a lot more of them. In fact there are far too many to list here. And you have to trust me when I say, that there is not a single effect of smoking cigarettes that does not harm you in at least one way.
