Pharmaceutical is one of the ancient disciplines of Pharmacy carrying a history with it. Initially Pharmacy stores were established in the year 1241 and are still running successfully. Pharmacy was derived from a Greek word "pharmakon" which means drug.

The general responsibilities of a pharmacists is to advise the patient on what to eat and what not to eat, guide him or help him to take the right medicine. Professionals in pharmaceutical medicines are professionally trained and carry on some surgeries. Pharmacies are those shops which either sell medicines or ingredients of these medicines. The history of pharmacy is very old and it is started much earlier than science or chemistry came into picture.

Pharmacists are internationally recognized as International Union of Pharmacist. They are experts in their field and often suggest their patients on which drug to be used to cure the disease in more effective and safe manner. Pharmacists usually run shops named pharmacy.

Chemist is another name for Pharmacists as referred in USA, UK and Australia. They are proprietors of small business shops carrying medicines or ingredients of medicines. They do hold some ethical responsibility as their job is very sensitive.

There are three functions or disciplines in pharmacy named Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy and Pharmacy practice. Pharmaceutics deal with all facets of chemical entity. Also deal with pure formulation of drugs. The second is Pharmacognosy also referred as Medicinal chemistry is the intersection of both chemistry and pharmacology. It involves the development of new medicinal products. The third discipline is Pharmacy practice which develops professional roles.

Such people need to equip themselves with relevant information that will give them an edge over the competition. The future is definitely for pharmacists where their general responsibility for selling medicines would increase from treating patients and curing them to also getting paid for that with a continuous ringing of their cash bells. Mortar and pestle are the two common symbols used in pharmaceutical. Pharmacy is the oldest medical treatment and there are high expectations for developing into a health care system which would be much more advanced.
