Menopause is the cessation of the menstruation, usually occuring between the ages of 45 and 55. During this time, women undergo a dual decline in reproductive hormones (estrogen from the ovaries and gonadotropins from the pituitary) and volume of blood.

The decline of building, reproductive hormones causes the gradual cessation of ovulation, pregnancy and menstruation. It also decreases the overall volume of blood, as reproductive hormones in conjunction with a healthy diet (sufficient amunt of protein and fat) cause women to produce too much blood, the excess of which, overflows, passes into the uterus, to nourish a fetus or pass via the menses.

As building, reproductive hormones decline, the need for excess, greater amounts of blood also decline, causing the body to produce less blood. Blood is cooling, moistening, strengthening, etc. When the overall blood supply declines, the body, especially if blood, protein and fat deficient, also declines, becomes less cool, moist and more hot, dry causing hot flashes, vaginal dryness, palpitations, etc. These symtoms will vary according to the individual. The healthy, strong blooded, via years, decades of correct diet (no caffeine) will experience less while the unhealthy, thin, anemic will experience worse.

The body digests food and transforms nutrients into blood. There are only two kinds of nutrients: building (protein, fat) and cleansing (water, minerals, sugar, etc.). Blood, nutrients build, fuel, cool, moisten and cleanse all structure, function. Long-term low protein, low fat (milk, yogurt, soft cheese, ice cream, beans, nuts, seeds) and high carbohydrate (salads, tropical fruits, juices, shakes, smoothies, sodas, cold drinks, sugar) diets tend to thin and weaken blood, which in turn, thins, weakens, heats and dries everything else (skin, hair, nails, muscles, bones, nerves, etc.).

There is only one body, therefore only one way to eat, exercise, sleep, etc. The middle diet: 1/3 protein and fat (chicken, turkey, eggs, hard cheese, beans, etc.), 1/3 grain (rice, noodles, bread, etc.), 1/3 vegetables, cooked, raw (3- 5 per meal) and fruit (1), spices, soup and or tea. Progesterone (cooling female hormone) creams may also help. Check with your doctor first. Estrogen builds up, heats (yang). Progesterone breaks down, cools (yin). Pear juice and pepeprmint tea, mixed together also helps counter hot flashes. Coffee, caffeine, alcohol and smoking (all hot, drying) worsen.

Health and disease are simple if you know biology, diet and nutrition and can eat simply, meal by meal, day in day out. The clock is ticking. Time, sooner or later will force you to eat and live simply. Make the choice before time makes it for you.
