When I first heard of liposuction, I thought they just cut people open and vacuumed out most of their fat cells. I wondered how their bodies would compensate, and if the parts of their bodies that still had fat cells wouldn't get overloaded, since the fat could no longer be stored in the usual places. I imagined people with huge lumps of fat growing in odd proportions as their body struggled to find places to store all of their excess calories. I think I was about nine years old at the time.
That was a long time ago, and I've even considered turning to liposuction to try and deal with some of those areas that just don't take on the right shape, no matter how much time I spend in the gym. My childhood fears were unfounded; even back then, liposuction didn't leave people with awkward lumpy bodies. Just the same, liposuction procedures have come a long way over the years, and the procedure itself has become safer and more accurate. As this technology continues to improve, I think more and more people will be turning to liposuction for long-term body shaping.
One of the new ways that liposuction is being performed is with the use of ultrasound technology. The target area is prepared with saline injections that make the procedure and recovery much easier, and then the area is literally sculpted using a special sonic device. Once the unwanted fat is emulsifies, it is carefully extracted, leaving surrounding tissue undamaged. Recovery time depends on the scope and number of treatments, but is generally pretty fast, and people start seeing results just as quickly.
A popular misconception about liposuction is that it shouldn't be considered a weight loss strategy. The only way to keep your body trim and fit is to eat properly and get regular exercise. What liposuction does do is reduce fat in problem areas, giving your body a more sculpted, crafted appearance.
Whether or not liposuction is right for you is a personal decision that should be made after consulting with a licensed medical professional. If you do decide that it is the right choice, take advantage of what modern technology has to offer and have your body ultrasonically sculpted. Sound can now make your body look good!
