Could Liposuction Be Healthy?

Did you know that liposuction could help you feel better physically, as well as emotionally? Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery that can have health benefits. While it is not as good as dropping twenty pounds through a beneficial change in diet and lifestyle, liposuction, the removal of small amounts of fat through a tube (cannula) attached to a vacuum pump (aspirator) , can offer some of the same benefits.

Removing a pound of fat allows the heart to stop pumping blood to that fat and eases stress on knee joints and feet. However, because liposuction is not recommended for patients with diabetes, heart or circulatory problems, it is unlikely that the people who would benefit the most from this treatment will receive it.

There are many different types of techniques used in liposuction. Suction assisted liposuction, or SAL, is the standard in liposuction techniques. In this method a small straw is inserted into the area to be sucked out attached to a vacuum pump. The surgeon pushes and pulls it through a small incision removing the fat layer. In UAL, or Ultrasound assisted liposuction, a cannula is used that has specially been designed to send ultrasound vibrations through the body.

This makes the fat easier to remove. Ultra-sonic liposuction is another term for this procedure. While there were some initial problems with this technique, the third generation machines developed a liposuction system with a pulsed energy delivery that more effectively breaks up the fat. Sonic liposuction is the preferred method for breaking up more fibrous fat deposits like the male breast area and upper back. After using sonic liposuction, traditional liposuction is used to remove any fat that has liquefied.

Liposuction can remove fat, but it does not firm and tighten the skin that was stretched by the excessive fat. Often a abdominoplasty, or 'tummy tuck' is performed if there has been a large amount of abdominal fat removed. doctors recommend that eating habits change to prevent fat re-occurrence. While vanity might seem to be the only motivating factor in liposuction, removal of abdominal fat could help women suffering from irregular periods, ovarian cysts, unwanted hair loss, stress, fatigue and weight gain.

These are all conditions aggravated by excess body fat, especially abdominal fat.Removing fat is a drastic procedure and should only be done under the supervision of a doctor after exhausting all other possibilities. Consult your doctor to find out if sonic liposuction could be the solution you are seeking.
