Women's metabolism is naturally much slower than in men since the latter have a greater fat-burning muscle mass that burns calories. In fact, women's metabolism starts to slow down as they age. The average age that women's metabolism slows down naturally is around 30 years old.

The women's body burns at the average rate of four percent slower every turn of a decade. In a sense, fewer calories are burned and more fats are stored resulting to increase of weight or them becoming heavier. The burned calories decrease by as much as 50 calories a day for each pound of muscle woman losses. This results to high risk for high blood pressure and heart disease.

Women's Lifestyle
The slowdown of women's metabolism, although comes naturally with age, may also be attributed to their lifestyle adapted at a later age. The focus of women tends to shift from themselves to their families, setting it as priority. Women become more inactive or have little time for them to indulge in a regular exercise, which would have helped burn those unwanted calories. Inactivity leads to losing those lean muscles needed to burn fats or calories. Hence, metabolism plummets over the years.

Remedy for Women with Slow Metabolism
To reverse women's metabolism and slow down in a natural way, they would need to revert to their active lifestyle. This would mean engaging in a regular exercise, which would only require at least twenty minutes of strength training for three sessions per week. The desired result would be achieved in time provided that women engage themselves in such strength training exercise continuously. The initial result would manifest after a few months, losing at least 15 pounds.

Once the body has adjusted to the physical activity, it is advisable to gradually increase the number of repetitions and adding more weights over time. This way, by indulging regularly and continuously in this type of strength training does not only increases women's metabolism but other health benefits such as eliminating risks for high blood pressure and heart disease.

Another remedy is to maintain a proper diet. Women should be aware and cautious of their calorie intake every day. It is advisable to eat foods with fewer calories and eat more fruits and vegetables as well as lean proteins necessary to build up muscles to burn unwanted calories.

Summary of Remedies
* The synopsis of the remedies in increasing the women's metabolism is listed hereunder:
* Inactivity is a big no-no. Engage yourself daily or as often as you can in an exercise.
* As earlier stated, indulge yourself with a strength-training program to build up your muscles needed to burn more fats or calories to increase your metabolism.
* Proper diet is a big help. Less fats and sugar intake would help improve your metabolism. In lieu of those, fruits and vegetables are the best alternative. Eating a number of small meals rather than three large meals is always better. The tendency of having three large meals a day is you feel starved and most likely you'll eat more or even out of control.
* Drink a lot of water every day since your body processes more efficiently when you drink a lot of water.
