Weight training is a type of exercise which helps people increase there muscle mass as well as there body strength. Weight-training differs from bodybuilding since bodybuilding is a sport while weight training is a form of exercise. In order to succeed in bodybuilding you need to exercise using weight-training which helps increase the strength of a person to be able to participate in the sport of bodybuilding.

If you are looking to get rid of excess body fat, tone your body or build your muscle mass, weight training exercises are highly recommended since they will help you achieve your quest. Weight-training is not reserved only for bodybuilders, athletes and wrestlers as well also need to weight training since these spots require a person to have great strength as well as endurance.

Some of the benefits of weight-training include;

1. Increase in muscle mass: if you undertake a well planned weight training program, you will be able to increase your muscle mass as well as your body strength. You cannot manage to increase your muscle mass by solely relying on other endurance exercises such as cardio exercises. Aerobic exercises serve the purpose of helping a person realize the full capacity of there body and not increasing a persons muscle mass. When you weight train for 25 minutes for a duration of two weeks you will be able to increase your muscle mass by 1 kg.

2. Fighting Age-related Muscle Loss: as we grow older our muscle mass tends to depreciate. After every 10 years a person loses around 2-3 kg of muscle mass during there life time. The first twitching muscles are the ones which are mostly affected. When you train using weights the training focuses on the fast twitching muscles. The use of cardio exercises are not effective in preventing the loss of muscles mass since they are not capable of focusing on the fast twitching muscles.

3. Increases the strength of the tendons and ligaments: weight-training has the benefit of improving the strength of the ligaments and tendons. This makes the joints to be very stable. Apart from this, when you weight train the production of collagen in the tendons and ligaments is also stimulated.

4. Increased Bone density: if you want to increase the strength of your bones you need to train using weights. It helps increase the mineral and protein content of the bones. According to research bones which are subjected to great amounts of stress contain greater levels of mineral contents.

5. Increased Metabolism:
When you weight train your body metabolism also increases. The reason is because weight training leads to the increase in muscle tissues. The rate of metabolism depends on the amount of muscle tissues your body has. The more muscle your have the higher your rate of body metabolism will be. If you are an obese person trying to lose weight you need to weight train so that you can increase your body metabolism. This will make you burn a lot of calories and thus lose weight.
