Many women want to tone their flabby arms so they can start wearing their sleeveless dresses again and look sexy. This has become the main motivation of most women that is why they want to learn different arm toning exercises.

If you are one of them, think again. Before you start following any workout in toning your arms, you should be committed in doing it from the start until you get your desired results. However, if your motivation for exercising is only for your physical appearance, you are less likely to succeed. You should be motivated by something more important and deeper than that.

In toning your arms, you need to lose fat and build muscle. If you want to get rid of your flabby arms, it is impossible to lose fat only on your arms. Spot reduction is not the best way to get good results in toning your arms. What you need is a weight loss program aimed at losing weight in your whole body. It is only after you lose those extra fats that you can move on to toning your arm muscles.

Weight training is very helpful in achieving a toned arm especially if you go for heavy weights. The heavier the weights, the more muscles are being rebuilt. Aside from this benefit, heavy weights are also good in speeding up your metabolism that leads to burning more fat. But when training your arm muscles, avoid swinging your torso forward and backward to prevent lower back strain.

Simple weight lifting workouts using free weights like dumb bells are also good for arm toning. These include barbell and dumb bell curls in working your biceps and close grip bench press and tricep kickbacks for your triceps. The basic exercises for arm toning should always start with warm-ups with some cardiovascular moves and stretching. This will help you develop flexibility and avoid injury as well.

Other exercises in toning your arms are boxing, tricep overhead extension, push-ups, rowing machine and chest press. For the second exercise, you will need to sit on a Swissball while holding a dumbbell and bringing your arms above your head. If you find doing push-ups difficult, you can try doing them on the wall. With the rowing machine, it does not only work on toning your arms, but on your back as well. The chest press is also a good exercise to tone your arm muscles. What is good about a chest press is that it can tone your arms without giving you bulky muscles.

Whatever exercise routine you choose to follow, you need to complement it with a healthy and proper diet to achieve better results. Indeed, exercises can help you increase metabolism and burn fat, but if you are not also watching what you eat, it will be harder to achieve results. A proper diet good for those participating in arm toning exercises should include foods that are rich in protein and carbohydrates to help in working your muscles.
