Acne is a skin disorder that affects millions of people, including African Americans. There is no cure for the skin disorder, but there are ways to clear up zits on black skin.

Before beginning any acne regime to clear pimples on the skin, a person needs to always to start out with clean hands. The water needs to be lukewarm when washing.

Facial cleansers are important in clearing up pimples on Black skin. A good cleanser needs to have two percent salicylic acid in it, preferably a daily cleansing scrub. This cleanser will not only help to clear up existing pimples, but will also prevent them.

Another cleanser that will help in the process of clearing up zits on Black skin is a benzoyl peroxide wash. Most benzoyl peroxide washes are 10 percent solutions, but there are lower concentrations, such as 3.5 percent.

Toners are not needed. It is up to the person if they want to use one. Witch Hazel is the best toner to use after a cleanser, if any toner is used.

After cleansing or toning, use a topical acne treatment for pimples, such as benzoyl peroxide 10 percent. Use a thin layer all over the area that has pimples and leave it on overnight.

Once a week, using a kaolin mask is helpful. It get rids rid of excessive oil and dirt in the skin that can cause acne pimples. Also, a home remedy is a baking soda scrub, which exfoliates and clears zits.

It is also important to always to use SPF 30 every morning, especially when using acne treatments. People with Black skin tend to get acne scars quicker and so the skin needs to be protected. At night, an oil-free moisturizer or a dry skin cream can be applied, if needed.

Acne needs to be treated tough, so in order to see results, using both salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide is needed to clear up acne pimples. A person with Black skin can use a salicylic acid wash in the morning and the benzoyl peroxide wash with the topical treatment at night. Also, the salicylic acid wash can be used day and night, but use the topical treatment at night only after washing the face.
