Stress during bodybuilding is best handled through positive thinking. This is geared towards enhancing the stages one goes through in a bodybuilding activity. The enhancement occurs in a number of ways. For instance it improves ones approach and with it comes more confidence that their goals will be realized. This also shuns negative thinking, which in turn helps the bodybuilder to see the progress he is making. In the case of lack of progress, one is able to cope more easily through positive thinking. The extent to which negative feelings affect the progress of a bodybuilder in overwhelming as it may often result in accidents, blunders and seemingly careless mistakes. This is the natural result of poor concentration and impaired thinking.

The human brain is the organ at the very core of any human activity. Once your thoughts have been preoccupied with negative thoughts during an intense exercise the mind ceases to see the emergency of must be achieved at the moment. If one was counting up to 20 in order complete a workout, the counting may stop and he ends up doing more or fewer or more moves, especially fewer.

If you hate something about your body physique, don't put your mind to it, at least not until you are through with the task at hand. Just learn to perceive your body in positive terms, be aware of what desirable progress must be achieved within a certain time frame and work towards achieving this goal.

Associating with people is perfectly healthy and so is the habit of regularly talking positively about you. Try and visualize success in concrete but simple, easy-to-understand terms. This way you can be surprised how quickly success will come or seem to come.

Control the destructive effects of stress. Harmful effects of stress can be reduced or done away with in a number of ways. We must though, start by acknowledging that each one of us is always under one form of stress or another. It is part of coping with life and if well managed, can drive one towards success. In fact what determines how successful one is in life depends one the stress management strategy employed.

We go through familiar positive stress events which are as basic as talking and eating, which we can't avoid. We also encounter negative stress in equal measure this is called distress. The trick is to use the positive stress as a stepping stone towards managing negative stress.

Some activities only increase our stress levels in the guise of reducing or controlling it. These activities may have something to do with drinking, thinking negatively constant arguments and inquisitiveness. These activities increase the levels of the hormone cortisol which is responsible for all stress-related problems such as constriction of blood veins causing high blood pressure and triggering of the fight flight phenomenon. Simply put, cortisol eats protein tissue and facilitates the accumulation of fat under the skin. It thus becomes a hindrance to the bodybuilder's fitness.
