Swine flu has taken its toll in almost every country and in many cases although the flu has sparked off mild and severe repercussions, there are some menacing signals that the flu is anticipated to return and may still bring more woe. The particular swine flu virus known as H1N1 is believed to be a relative of a deadly virus that caused the deadly 1918 flu outbreak.

Medical experts are of the opinion that the flu virus mutates speedily and hence there is a possibility that the mild version of the virus could rapidly mutate and become a deadly version, which explains the widespread panic that the virus has created across the world. One of the largest concerns that the virus has generated is that it can lead to a distinctly deadly form of bronchial pneumonia.

People with compromised immunity systems and underlying medical conditions stand at a greater chance of being affected with the deadly virus. Children and the elderly also seem to be at a grave risk of developing virulent pneumonia.

Some simple habits can be adopted in order build your immunity. Some of them include maintaining a healthy diet, with plenty of high fiber foods such as whole grain bread, legumes and edible beans. Fruits and Vegetables help to boost the immune system by providing it with necessary vitamins and minerals.

In addition to this, include ginger and garlic in your diet as they have been seen to be very beneficial to the immune system. Meals must be prepared and had at home in order to prevent transmission or deadly contagions. Supplementing the diet with vitamins may also help with building your immunity.

Make your diet a healthy one and get rid of processed foods, if they constitute a major portion of your eating habits. It is best to avoid eating food in fast-food restaurants or from take-away joints. Always stay hydrated and tank up on fluids, especially water throughout the day.

Being hydrated helps the body to get rid of toxins and replenishes the cells in the body. Lack of water causes a buildup of the toxins in the body and lowers the resistance level when under an attack.

Indulge in some form of exercise, as exercise is fundamental in building the immunity system. Being sedentary is bad for health and increasing your levels of activity during the day can help in enriching your health and helping to keep swine flu at bay. Exercise of any kind at least three times a week, has been scientifically established to boost the bodys defense mechanisms.

Getting adequate sound sleep is also a must. Sleepless nights can cause unnecessary stress and strain on your entire system. The body needs the rest at night to build its defense system and will be better equipped to fight off any infection.
