The body continually stuns researchers with its ability to self-regulate, to maintain a balance despite all of the poisons and excesses we pump into it, and to heal itself after incredible trauma, after injuries and after stroke. However, scientists are starting to unravel the mechanisms behind at least one of these miracles, the miracle of healing.
Instead of treating injuries and illnesses with drugs and physical aids in the future, a new adult stem cell cure may give the body the ability to heal itself quickly. The researchers are now looking at stem cell treatments that mobilize different types of human adult stem cells. Dr Sarah Rankin, the study's corresponding author, said that "We hope that by releasing extra stem cells.we could potentially call up extra numbers of whichever stem cells the body needs.Our work could lead to new treatments to fight various diseases and injuries which work by mobilizing a person's own stem cells from within".
