If you want to have good health it is very crucial to make weight lifting part of your daily routine. Most people find weight lifting to be to cumbersome and so they end up doing aerobics only. The other reason why most people prefer doing aerobics to weight lifting is that they think weight lifting is not effective when it comes to losing fat. This can not be further from the truth because not only will you lose fat but you will also add more muscles.

Below is a list of some of the benefits associated with weight lifting;

1. Health improvement
If you are into weight lifting for the sake of getting a wonderful physique, then with it you also get a terrific health improvement.
Recent research studies have shown that weight training can reduce your chances of contracting osteoporosis. Weight training also prevents you from getting sarcopenia. This will reduce your chances of injuring yourself due to having weak bones; it will also help you develop balance and coordination.
Weight training can also help prevent heart diseases, blood pressure, and glucose metabolism.

2. Improves your flexibility and strength.
Your body muscles increase in strength, size, endurance and power when you lift weights. This will help you do day to day activities without any hustles of getting too tired or feeling worn out. When you are weight training your muscles will undergo various motions and this will improve on your flexibility. The only way you can prevent muscle injuries and back pain is by increasing your flexibility.

3. Boosting your metabolism
Metabolism is the key factor which will determine how successful you will be in losing weight. Metabolism is defined as the amount of calories burned by our bodies so as to maintain the daily functions such as sleeping, eating, and exercising.

If you are muscular your metabolism will be higher because muscles need more energy to maintain as compared to fat.
The only way you can improve on your body muscles is by weight lifting and thus in the process make your metabolism to be higher.

3. Improves your athletic performance
Weight training helps improve your athletic or sports performance. This is because you are able to increase your energy by weight training. In many sports all you need is that extra energy to separate you from the other competitors. If you tap into this new source of energy then your success will be guaranteed.

4. Proper state of mind
The strength you get from weight training will give you an improved state of mind and you will be less stressed when dealing with whatever situation life will throw at you. If you are suffering from insomnia than this is the best cure you have at your disposal. Weight training might actually remove you from a depressive state of mind.

5. Improved balance and posture
Your body posture is influenced by your back, neck, shoulder, abdominal muscles and your hip. There when you have strength in all the above muscles you will be able to develop good posture.
