Are you getting this information from Dr. Oz or your doctor? The bones are primarily protein, fat and calcium. Calcium, minerals are about 4% of our overall nutritional make-up. The greatest nutrient, substance is water, 63% or more. Protein and fat are about 33% and the real substances, glue that makes, holds the organs, glands, nerves, marrow and the bones together. It is protein and fat deficiency and or an excess of sugar, not a lack of calcium or dairy that destroys, thins the bones, teeth, hair, skin, nails, organs, glands, etc.

Americans, especially women have a high dairy and calcium intake via the daily consumption of milk, yogurt, cheese, ice cream, etc. yet also have very high rate of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis (abnormal loss, thinning of the bones) is generally associated with post menopausal women, as modern, allopathic medicine (drugs, surgery and radiation) seems to think that the decline in hormones, in particular, estrogen, accelerates the loss of bones.

Traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicines, both 5,000+ years old, unlike the new kid on the block (allopathic), attribute the premature loss of bony tissue to poor diet and lifestyle (excessive sex). Many women tend to eat low protein, low-fat (milk, yogurt, soft cheese, ice cream, beans, etc.) and high carbohydrate (pasta, salads, tropical fruits, juices, smoothies, shakes, sodas, cold drinks and sugar) diets.

Low protein, low-fat and high carbohydrate diets, in the extreme, tend to thin (low protein, low-fat), weaken the blood, which in turn, weakens, thins, dries, cracks the skin, hair, bones, teeth, organs, glands, nerves, etc. Protein and fta are thick, sticky nutrinents. Menopause is not only a decline in estrogen but also a decline in the overall volume of blood. Women naturally produce more blood during their fertile years to nourish the growing fetus; otherwise the excess blood is expelled from the body in the form of menses.

Chronic blood deficiency (thin, low protein, low fat blood) tends to cause symptoms commonly associated with menopause: hot flashes, anxiety, insomnia, osteoporosis, etc. Menopause with its resulting decline in blood worsens (dries and heats) an already dry, hot, blood deficient condition. Not all women suffer the same symptoms when going through menopause. Those that smoke, drink coffee and alcohol, eat a lot of chocolate, long-term low protein, low fat diet, etc. accelerates the weakening and thinning of the bones, teeth, hair, skin, nails, etc. in addition to deficient heat symptoms (hot flashes, hysteria, etc.)

Calcium supplements, for the most part do not work, especially if eating a poor diet. The American diet in general is poor. The best calcium supplement is fish liver oils (protein and fat) which can sometimes aggravate a clogged, high protein, high fat liver. The best, natural and easily assimulated source is leafy, green vegetables: kale, collard greens, broccoli, cabbage, carrot tops, etc. which are much higher and more absorbable than milk.

The middle diet, meal plan, adjusted according is recommended, two to three times a day, preferably breakfast and lunch. The middle diet is 1/3 protein and fat, 1/3 grain, 1/3 vegetables (3- 5), fruit, spices, soup and or tea. Source: Hot and Cold Health and Disease
